STARLIGHT SPOTLIGHT | AMANDA CERNY

Robert: How’s it going, everybody? My name is Robert Rushing and I’m here with Amanda Cerny on another episode of Starlight Spotlight. Today, we have masks on, we’re being safe, coronavirus conscious, and we’re super excited to have you on. You’re going to be the first female that we’ve had on the show, which is awesome because we hate this, this stigma that the automotive world is masculine and it’s cool that we can show that women appreciate the exotic cars as much as the guys do.

Amanda: Oh yeah, we do, I mean, come on.

Robert: And it’s fun.

Amanda: And the first mask one, probably.

Robert: Definitely the first mask one. We got the show started earlier in the year and then when everything happened, we got a little bit of a delay, so we’re excited to get back to filming these. So, yeah. Thanks again.

Amanda: No, of course. I got to go on a nice ride. It’s perfect.

Robert: Yeah. So we’ve actually done a couple of projects together already. This will be, I believe our third or fourth. Um, but out of all the stuff that we’ve done together so far, you’ve been in a couple of our cars. Do you have a favorite so far?

Amanda:  I mean, the Ghost was amazing. I like the luxurious rides like just cruising and, and the Jeep was awesome too, but on the highway. Yeah. It’s like, I feel like I’m really focused ongoing, but it’s such a fun car, like driving that around. Cause we went out, we went camping. Go, go, go, go, go, go, go. We didn’t really go. It wasn’t real camping cause we went to Palm Beach and we went to, um, this empty lot on Palm Beach Island. Cause we didn’t want to go too far. So we were like, oh, let’s just put up a tent on an empty lot on, like this Island. And so we did that and our friends just owned a lot of lands and then we just like, pulled up the Jeep, but it would have been fun to take it out like mudding. Cause of that, I loved doing that.

Robert: Next time, right?

Amanda: Yeah, sure.

Robert: I hope we have a bunch of opportunities to do more. And I think we’re going to do something soon with the Corvette, I believe. Are you excited about that?

Amanda: I’m so excited. He said that’s a scary, fast one.

Robert: It is, it is, it comes with, like a supercharger and a 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque.

starlight spotlight amanda cerny interview jeep wrangler rental

Amanda: Whoo! And I’m driving so… My dad’s going to be so jealous because he’s loved Corvettes.

Robert: Really?

Amanda: Like his whole life. I think he had like 17 different Corvettes.

Robert: Holy cow.

Amanda: Yeah.

Robert: Oh my gosh. Well, if he’s ever in town, you should send him our way. We’ve got a few in the fleet now.

Amanda: Oh, nice.

Robert: So the next thing that we wanted to talk about was cars actually, in the sense that we… there’s people that just use cars as just a means of transportation to get you from point A to point B, but then there’s others like, like we’re enthusiastic. We’re obsessed with cars, every aspect about them, and building them, racing them. And we’re just curious if you’ve had any car experiences or stories growing up like these Corvettes your dad used to own. Do you have a favorite car?

Amanda: Yes, I mean, the T top Corvettes were some of my favorites, just nostalgic for me.

Robert: Yeah.

Amanda: Um, but yeah, I build cars all the time. I’m totally kidding. I don’t know that much about cars, but I know I enjoy them. And I know what I like. Like for me, exotic car wise, I would probably see myself end up getting an RA, oh really, V10.

Robert: Oh my Gosh.

starlight spotlight amanda cerny interview intro2 mph club

Amanda: Just because I have an S5 right now and I’ve had it forever. It’s a convertible and it’s just like, I love driving around California and it’s great, but I feel like the next step would be the RA.

Robert: Definitely. Yeah. You know, we do have an RA in the fleet and if you ever wanted to test it out, like when you’re shopping around, we can definitely work something like that out.

Amanda: For sure, I love testing things out before I buy them. Yeah. And, um, even with like, I’m looking for houses now, too, I’m just like, alright, let me just see all of them and then I’ll make a decision, the same thing with cars. Like I, and this is why, this is great too because I can literally try out every single car and find what I like, what I don’t like, and what I see myself driving every day vs just like a night out. So…

Robert: Absolutely.

Robert: So, you know, Audi, for the RA specifically, Audi and Lamborghini is the same company and the same engine that’s in the RA is the same engine that actually is in the Lamborghini Huracàn. So at mph club, we’re really into the high-end exotics, like the Lamborghinis and Ferraris. So maybe the next thing we could do is the Huracàn, which should be the little more exotic version of the exact same car too.

Amanda: Yeah. So you’re already upgrading me for buying.

Robert: Yeah, I’m already thinking about it.

Amanda: Yeah. I love that. No, it’s, it’s so much fun. I mean, even, especially being in Miami, like this is where you see some of the coolest, like flashiest cars driving around. But like I said, I daily, I just like the easy drivers, like I’m probably, oh I didn’t tell you this. Um, for Christmas, I’m getting Johannes Tesla.

Robert: No way, oh my gosh.

Amanda: That’s like an everyday car, just because it’s so easy to drive around and it has the autopilot and the self-driving.

Robert: Holy cow.

Amanda: So when we’re on the highway going up North like it’s going to be,

Robert: Easy.

Amanda: Yeah.

Robert: Does he know about this or is this a secret?

Amanda: No, he has no idea. So don’t say anything when he sees us tomorrow, don’t say anything.

Robert: Okay, okay, it is a secret.

Amanda: Yeah, he’s gonna, I’ll send you the video though.

Robert: Oh, awesome. Yeah.  Speaking of your content, we are huge fans and impressed with how much high quality and engaging content and that’s something that I’ve noticed working with a handful of celebrities that come through our doors, is we have that, the trend is all of these people we’ve had the chance to work with are just super high, productive, super A-type personality and on top of their game. I wanted to ask you if you had any tips and tricks for like staying so focused, so productive, as in terms of everything you do, it’s just, it’s wildly impressive.

Amanda: Well, I’m so happy that you said everybody’s type A, because I thought I was the only one. So I love that it makes me feel better. Um, yeah. I’m just super organized. I always have to be busy. I love multitasking, but I think the number one thing that can make anybody successful is actually working towards what you’re passionate in.  And if you don’t have the passion, you’re not going to have the drive and you’re not gonna work on it every day. And every day is going to be a struggle and feel like work and draining. It’s going to be really hard to get there, but if you have a dream, you have a vision, just having that passion, it’s, you’re gonna put the extra energy into it and that’s what it takes. It’s the hard work behind it because, you know, even some people they get, um, for me, it took, it was a process of growing a following online, but, and then once you have it, you have to continue to grow it and keep it. So it’s constantly staying creative, thinking of new ideas, being innovative, um, adopting new platforms and, you know, being open-minded to them. So yeah, it’s just, and being first.

Robert: Yeah, it helps a lot, right?

Amanda: Yeah, and I know that was a lot.

Robert: No, I love it.

Amanda: But it’s like, I get excited to wake up every morning and just start my day. Cause yeah even go to bed, sometimes at 5:00 AM just cause I’m…

Robert: You’re so into what you’re doing.

Amanda: Yeah, I’m still going and I love it.

Robert: That’s incredible. I get the hard work. I know you’re not a stranger to hard work, especially because you are currently running so many small businesses, right? Not small businesses right now. And on top of that, I hear you’re training for a marathon?

Amanda: Yes.

Robert: Holy cow.

Amanda: Well, it’s my first ever marathon too.

Robert: Really?

Amanda: You can drive one of the cars next to me and just blast awesome music for me, but it’s going to be in Miami. Yeah.

Robert: Really?

Amanda: I’m probably going to be running by myself for this marathon because of COVID situations, but, um, 26.2 miles.

Robert: Oh my goodness.

Amanda: So wish me luck. I may need you to pick me up and bring me home.

Robert: I don’t think I could run it, but we can definitely pick you up in one of the cars.

Amanda: Yeah, that, that would be like a good goal to run towards. Like they say some people when they run, they’re either running away from their problems or running towards their goals. Right, so I like to think I’m running towards them.

Robert: It definitely seems like you’re running towards your goals. And more goals of which are growing this wine business, I understand. How did you get involved in the wine industry? I’m super curious about the company and all the great things I hear about it online.

Amanda: It’s simple. I like drinking it.

Robert: Awesome.

Amanda: Like COVID started, quarantine was happening. I saw like everybody’s just staying at home more. Just celebrating with themselves more, getting creative and having a glass of wine myself and I’m like, you know what? I’ve always loved wine. It’d be so much fun to start a brand like this. And my best friend, uh, King Bach. I don’t know if you’ve met him yet?

Robert: Not yet.

Amanda: But you will. Um, he also loves wine. We usually drink it together and we’re like, let’s do a wine together. Why not start a business together? And make, find opportunity during these times as well, you know, be innovative, create new brands and so we came up with six26 wine, which is our birthday and we have the same birthday.

Robert: Nice, oh my gosh

Amanda: Celebration wine.

Robert: Hell yeah.

Amanda: And it’s delicious that it all has like 91 plus ratings and fully plugging it right now. Six26wine.com.

Robert: Casual plugging.

Amanda: Don’t drink and drive.

Robert: Drink responsibly. Um, so we’re actually are familiar with that part of the business because we’ve been listening to your podcast a little bit and we saw, he was recently on an episode and there was actually a question that you asked him at the end of this podcast that we thought was super interesting and I wanted to ask you a version of the same question. I don’t know if you remember. I think it was at the end of like a glass or a bottle of wine, or so, the question was like, what kind of advice would you give to the younger entrepreneurs and these people that look up to you guys as giant social media influencers, people that are looking to build their own brand. How would you advise the younger generations?

Amanda: I would say, um, be yourself and do what you believe in because a lot of people try to copy and paste and you’re just like another, just more noise in a crowd. So to really stand out, you just have to do what’s true to you. Um, and also just don’t let fear stop you. Cause a lot of people are scared of what other people will think or if it will fail, but even if it does will fail, it’ll be, it’s just a building block for you. And you’re just going to grow from that and be even better at your next venture or trying it again.

Robert: Absolutely. That’s really great advice, trying to learn, learn from all your failures and getting better every time.

Amanda: Yeah, I mean, cause we all fail like in small ways, big ways, but. I, I feel like life. It’s such a clichè saying, but life is a complete rollercoaster. You have your ups, you have your downs, but it’s like, it makes the ups even better and you can really appreciate them and work harder towards them.

Robert: Oh my gosh. What a poetic answer.

Amanda: I’m in a poetic car. It’s inspiring me. The star lights are inspiring.

Robert: Yeah, this, this kind of inspired us to even start the show. We just loved the headliner so much. Then we put together the idea. We get to interview the celebrities we get to work with.

Amanda: I love it. All cars should have this.

Robert: Speaking of the rollercoaster of life, this year is a great example of that. I wanted to ask you how this year has been for you and, and all of your businesses. I know the wine benefited that you do a lot of things, you have your hands in so many things. How has this year been for The Amanda Cerny,  experience and…?

Amanda: Well, I’m blessed in that. A lot of things remained online, especially with everybody being at home, they’re online even more and consuming direct to consumer items, more so than going out and shopping. So for me, it’s, I’ve been doing well and I’ve, you know, I’ve seen even with my friends businesses where people usually come in or like my mom owned the largest karate studio in the state of Florida. And she like, saw a struggle even with COVID going on because the kid’s going to come and do karate. So, but she got innovative with it also, and just started doing zoom classes and zoom training. So it was coming up with, like, for me, it’s like kind of exciting as well to be able to problem-solve. And I love just, like finding solutions. Whenever I have a roadblock, it’s very exciting to be able to find a way around it. It’s like the same thing with stereotyping when people put you in a box and just like finding your way out of it.

Robert: To break out.

Amanda: Yeah, so it’s like, it’s a time for that now for sure. And a lot of people have to start over a lot of people’s businesses haven’t done well. Haven’t done a bit. Yeah, you, you have to, and you can’t let it keep you down, even though it just feels like the world is like crashing on you. It’s just, like you said, as motivation to pick yourself up again and just get out there, you know, or get on there.

Robert: That’s, that’s incredible. What an answer.

Amanda: What about with, um, with you guys, with everybody, with renting cars and people in the, like, has business kind of slowed down for you guys? Or is it…

Robert: We definitely were impacted. So a lot of our business comes from people who travel internationally. So we’ve actually been doing a lot more work with locals, which is kind of cool, a blessing in disguise. We’ve had to work with a lot of locals and people from the neighboring States that still come here. Now there’s a lot of business in Snowbirds, people that come down for the holidays. So now with people gathering in smaller groups, what we’re anticipating is people just delaying their Miami vacation. So instead of having one massive, busy season at the end of the year, we actually think 2021 is going to be incredible for us because everyone’s just waiting to go on vacation. Oh yeah. So, and that’s where we thrive is, is serving tourism and giving people that really high quality exotic automotive experience.

Amanda: I feel like a lot of people are even renting now more too, because you know, my friends in New York or my friends in LA, a lot of them are moving to warmer places and places to where they can be outside more outside of the city or outside of, you know, and just like being able to go on little joy rides and stuff. So even in renting homes and renting apartments, like I’m sure that could pick up too, even with renting cars while they’re down here, because a lot of people come into Miami and they really liked the lifestyle, especially when coming up from the freezing, coming down from the freezing cold. So see, like, there are ways.

Robert: Absolutely. To make it work. We’d like to say, you didn’t actually visit Miami until you drove a Lamborghini on your stay.

Amanda: Oh yeah. No, it’s so true. You have to… necessarily.

Robert: So for 2020, moving forward, I know we’re at the very end of this year. I think a lot of people are looking forward to 2021, a lot of awesome opportunities. What’s next for Amanda Cerny?

Amanda: Um, just producing more… I’m, I’m home a lot. I’m writing a lot too. So I’m coming up with different ideas and, you know, I’ve actually made some, like, even stronger connections during COVID times just from being able to reach out to people more because I’m not traveling all the time and having like creative conversations. So, definitely producing more, working on the wine, continuing the podcast, running marathons and, uh…

Robert: Incredible.

Amanda: Yeah, but it’s like, I, I was supposed to run a marathon that was with, you know, an actual marathon when you go and you have the energy of the people around you. Yeah. And I want to have that experience, but eventually.

starlight spotlight amanda cerny interview mph club hat

Robert: I’m sure it’s coming. You already have a marathon behind you at that point. So yeah, exactly. You’ll be even better.

Amanda: I’ll be, exactly. Yeah. See positive outlooks, positive perspectives and you know, everything good will come your way. That’s everything. So, we also wanted to say thank you again, we wish you happy holidays. We actually have a gift we wanted to, we wanted to give you this, this right now. Unfortunately, not the Phantoms. However, we have this, a couple of t-shirts for you and Johannes and some hats. This is some merch that we’re going to be launching soon, and you can find it on the mph club website, but you can have it for free now early.

Robert: Thank you. Oh my gosh. I’m so lucky. I love this. Thank you so much.

Amanda: Absolutely. We appreciate you coming.

Robert: I can’t put it on that but it’ll look better later.

Amanda: Right, right. Thanks again and guys thank you for watching. If you like this type of content, please give us a thumbs up. It helps a lot. So check out Amanda, and all of the incredible businesses she runs and everything she’s doing

Robert: Thank you and make sure you get a Lamborghini next time you come to Miami.

Amanda: Absolutely. Thanks again. Thanks, guys. Bye guys. Happy holidays…

CONVERSATIONS WITH CARROLL PODCAST FT. MPH CLUB CO-FOUNDER LIRAM SUSTIEL

Nolan Carroll, a father, entrepreneur, philanthropist,  fashion enthusiast & NFL player who has played for the Miami Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles, and Dallas Cowboys sits with Liram Sustiel, Co-Founder of mph club for another episode of his podcast show “Conversations with Carroll”. They chat about being able to do what you love for a living and raising the bar in both experiences and in life.

Nolan: This has been a long awaited thing and I’m happy that you’re here because I think people need to hear a different side of a standard. I’m always talking about standards and how you’re supposed to be held accountable. And I’m here with Lee, who is the owner of mph. And man, like I said, I don’t normally get excited about you know, I have my mom here. I have my homeboy, my other homeboys. But you, my friend, like, every time I see you, it’s always it’s just I’m always reminded of a standard and how you’re supposed to do things. And he’s the owner of a mph, a rental car company. It’s even more than a rental car company. I think it’s a membership club, and that’s how you treat it. So I definitely am appreciative of you being here. And it was really getting to talk about just you and I want to highlight what you do and and how you do it. So just tell me a little bit about yourself to everybody and you know, we can just go from there.

Lee: Of course. I appreciate it. Thanks. I mean, it’s an honor to be here is well over done. And we should have done this a long time ago . But, you know, pretty much all. I’m Lee, one of the owners of mph club. Like you mentioned, it’s an exotic car rental company and we try to stick to only high end cars, high end brands, people that don’t really comprehend that it’s available for rent. And that’s the beautiful part about it. People you know, get birthday gifts out of the way, bucket list, things out of the way. And just a lot of production companies use our services too sometimes and weddings. And the best part of my business is I get such big smiles when people walk in the front door because they’re so excited, you know, the cars they sell themselves. At the end of the day, my job is just to process you, Pretty much.

Nolan: But you guys, you do it differently, though, like I’ve seen, I’ve been down in South Florida for about ten years now and I’ve seen rental car companies. It’s flashy, it’s dashy. Let’s put it in front of as many people as we can to get noticed. You guys do it On the other side. You were more prestigious, your private, and you deal with a lot of high end people, but you don’t gloat about it. It’s the respect factor. There is the privacy there. You’ve had people from Floyd Mayweather to the Baby to Logan Paul to Man, Bad bunny, has some cars in his video. You guys have been all over the place. So can you explain kind of your minds and your standard and why you wanted it to be different from everybody else?

Lee: Yeah, definitely, man. We started about eight years ago, and when we first got into the industry, we didn’t want to just be a car rental company. I thought that was a very cheesy just to even talk about it, because it actually goes way back to my passion. When I first started, I was like ten years old and I grew a passion to these exotic cars. And an early age, I had the blessings of actually meeting Brett David before you told me about. And I’ll tell the story by him real quick So it leads up to the point. I remember when I was like ten years old at my sister’s school because they went to the same school together at the time and there was a talent show and this kid was breakdancing and she was singing. It was cute at the time, you know, but me and him clicked because I was into breakdancing at the time as well.

Nolan: Really?

Lee: Not happening anymore more, I will break my back now

Nolan: What if I ask you?

Lee: No, no.

Lee: But yeah, he was break dancing, which was pretty cool. I was getting into that at the time. And it’s funny because he ironically had a broken hand at a time and he was like doing a couple of moves here and there, whatever. He made it happen. But that was the point, We became we clicked real quick. We became good friends right there And then and when it was all over, we all leaving. His dad picked him up in a purple diablo and coincidentally, I had that same exact purple diablo picture on my bedroom over my bed as a poster. And I was looking like, this is a real thing. This is like a spaceship, like UFO. It’s my first time seeing a diablo. Like, it’s just insane. And so we got in the car, he left and I was blown away. We already had we made plans to meet up the next day. And when I met him the next day, the car was in the driveway and I saw it again. I was actually able to sit in and touch a unicorn. Yeah. And I was hanging out with his dad and telling me about it and Brad and I’m sure we became friends. And just over the years I was exposed to all these amazing cars because of the dealership that he has. And my passion was there before. But now I was able to actually physically touch the cars and play with them. And so my passion went to a whole another level. I got educated on all the vehicles, the brands, the history, things that people don’t really understand unless you spent some time in research and it was just delivered to me. Yeah. So as you can imagine, over time, the passion and all that knowledge grew over time. And I became a little older over time. I wanted to somehow get in the industry and I saw an opportunity when I was at the time working with my father. I’m a little geeky deep down inside. I build websites.

Nolan: Oh really?

Lee: Optimized websites. That’s my thing. I live behind a computer screen.

Nolan: All right.

Lee:  So I was watching my father and my father need help with his website. So I helped them, obviously, as my father and optimize this website. And I was doing pretty good. Then he called me one day complaining that the phone is ringing off the hook. What the hell Did you do what was going on here and I’m like, good work that’s working. So that means that over time I was working with my father for a while and I decided to somehow shift because I was working from home.

I was working in my underwear every single day, waking up a 12 o’clock in the afternoon because my hours are complete. It was good, life was good, and it’s a little different, but it got a little boring because the only thing I did is I worked out and worked on my laptop all day long. That’s all I was doing. So I wanted to somehow get involved with my passion and that’s in the cars. And I didn’t know how. I didn’t want to step on my boy’s toes by open up a dealership. And that’s that’s now what people do. So I kept on picking his brain and we couldn’t really come to a decision what to do and kept on talking about it. And he sees how passionate I am. And one day it was just brought to my attention that people rented these cars. So I asked Bret Hey are you interested in doing these rentals. He goes ” Hell Fuck NO.” Can I curse you, by the way?

Nolan: Go ahead. You’re fine.

nolan carroll interviewing liram sustiel from mph club

Lee: He goes, “Hell no, that’s not me, That’s all you. Maybe, you should look into that.” And then the next day I researched it for a while and realized I was a huge demand for high-end exotic car rentals. And I built the whole facade and said, you know what, let me build a fake website, fake pictures just generate leads and see if the demand is actually there. And I’d be doing it for a while, did it for like six months and realize, holy shit, demand is really there. There’s a lot of leads coming in, a lot of phone calls, a lot of people actually complaining that nobody’s calling me back because I didn’t know what to do with the people. It was a fake facade at the time. So I was trying to see if I maybe sell the leads or whatnot. And then I got together with Stoss and then we both dissect this idea for a while. We literally put together a very detailed business plan, about one hundred twenty pages. And it took us a couple of months to put it together before we even spent a single dollar. We just put a lot of our time and effort into it.

So this whole concept existed a year before we even thought of the name. That’s amazing. So we had the concept, we had the business plans and then we finally grew some balls and bought our first Lamborghini Giardo. That was our first car. We got together about the car. We started the company. We opened up at Opelika airports. We wanted to be there because we realized the people that want these type of vehicles fly private. The best private airport here in Miami, South Florida, technically is a block executive airport. So we strategically stage ourselves there. And over time, we rented cars a couple of times here and there. A couple of small transactions went smooth, cool. We get the things either way because we’re still learning as we go along. I never had anything to do with it. There’s a whole another world for me, but I’m dealing with my passion, which I enjoyed every day, waking out of bed, putting a smile on my face because I’m about to jump in a Lamborghini and go to work. And it was awesome.

So, yeah, we rented the cars a couple of times and we did one client. I’ll never forget this. His name is Williams. He’s still our client till today. He rented the car for a month, a whole month! With that paycheck that he gave us, for that month, We went straight to the dealership and bought a Ferrari. That was our second car. Oh yeah, just double down. And next, you know, every two months we would just add Another car. Another car. Another car. Another car.

Nolan: Yeah, yeah. You’re smart. And most people look at that check and Oh, let’s go buy this, let’s buy that Let’s go here. Let’s go there. You guys.

Lee: We were still building the company. I went back to the business, drawing board and see how else can we expand. What else can we do? And yeah, over time that just grew and grew and grew and ironic. And he actually just rented a car to Will a week ago. So it’s pretty funny.

Nolan: That’s cool man. As far as the name, mph, it’s probably the most iconic thing ever because when you get into your vehicle, you see it all the time. So how were you guys able to come up with that name? Like, what was your thought process when you were trying to look for a name? How are we going to do this? How are we going to stand out? We have a business plan. We have what we want to do with the process and the experience. But now it’s the name. So how did you guys get to the name?

Lee: Are you sure you wanna hear the names before? You know, the garage toys, luxury rental like crazy. I’m all about optimizing the website. And specifically, I wanted keywords for the domain, for the website. So I wanted to go there and I was like, no, no way. But we got to do something cool, something slick, like, you know, we got to meet in the middle somehow. We got to figure this out and then, you know, met him. I don’t smoke that often, but we did that time, smoked a little bit because we were stumbling like for a month, going back and forth for names. Yeah, So we smoked a little bit, went down to where I live at the time I had a marina. So we chilled in the marina and my girlfriend was with us and Stoff was here. We’re throwing ideas back and forth, back and forth thought they were sticking and then somebody threw what about like a mile per hour? He goes, he says, what about the mile per hour? And then I threw in club she tweaked it and tweaked it, next you know, for like ten minutes we’re going back and forth and we just shortened it and “mph club” and we all just THING it was right there.

Nolan: The power of marijuana.

Lee: Bro, It was like one o’clock in the morning. I jumped up from the marina, ran upstairs, went to my laptop, immediately started researching. That’s OK. That’s a good name. Started looking. OK, cool. Cool. Got all the social media platforms, got everything locked in. Fuck the domain. Seventy-five hundred dollars. We had a budget at the time. Yeah, that’s not in the budget. Seventy-five hundred dollars for a  fucking URL? It’s expensive. So we’ve been going back and forth. I am asking the guy. Hey, are you even interested in selling the domain and you know, what is your lowest offer. And he stayed firm. 7500. Take it or leave it homie. The next day me and him meets us just got together fucking let’s do it. We’ll make it happen. We bought the domain and right there and then I just went to work. Start optimizing the website, transferring all the old data that we had and the old side of the fake facade and start growing and continue dissecting the business plan in. So ironic because we executed that business plan. It was a three year business. We executed it to the T within three years, that’s amazing. I look at it like this is unbelievable. It’s amazing. We’re both blown away by it, but so bought the domain.

We immediately registered the company as a trademark, which is also a nice chunk of change at the time. So we did all the important things first to lock it in and then we have a name. Now we actually talk to people about it to see if that maybe could help us invest into the company, maybe grow it, because it was not cheap to get our first Lamborghini. I went from a Lexus GS, which is, you know, signing drivers to a two hundred fifty thousand dollar car and banks looking like you were smoking crack when you put 50 percent down. I can’t afford that. So we went to Brett after like a week of locking everything in. And I pitched in the idea. I said, this is what we’re doing, this is the name and this is the concept and this is what we’re going to be. And this is the cars. And he looks at me. Brother the name is Dog Shit. What are you talking about like, No, man, you broke my heart when you telling this, because I’m building up the whole hype and then the end, I say, all right, this is the name mph club. You should call it the luxury lifestyles and la tois something like that. What’s wrong with you, Mike bro I am already ten grand. And he goes, What do you mean?  About the domain? I got it registered. I got a trademark.

Nolan: Oh, yeah, you’re committed to it. You’re like, oh this is the name.

Lee:  was ready to tattoo it on my forehead. I’m ready to go. So he could too change his vibe. And you realize you were on a mission. And he’s like, I see the hustle I respect and I’m going help you guys with whatever I can. He did he helped me a lot at the beginning of the company, which is a really big thing. So we started growing the company and just it was not easy. I ain’t gonna lie man. First couple of years we’re getting punched left and right man. There’s a couple of incidents we learned the hard way. There’s a couple of things that we went through and we had to jump these hurdles and we weren’t even profitable for the first three years. That means that we’re not making money from this business now. It’s costing us money every month to keep afloat. But it was fun, I didn’t care. I could have done it for free, but I was doing it every day. And yeah, that’s pretty much like the beginning of it. The idea and how it grew and manifested.

Nolan: You all went through all that. I just kind of saw the end product. And it’s funny because we were just talking about in my store that was in South Beach, and I was off for Washington and I was across the street and I would always see these guys’, Lambos, Ferraris, Urus’s just everything I could hear it. I’m just thinking, man, these people are what how much are they spending them like a day on these things? I would just research twenty three hundred bucks a day just to drive up and down the street? And I have my car like at the time and I had before this I had the Ferrari and then I had a seven twenty. I mean I still got it. That has a couple other things. I’m just every time I’m in the store I just see these cars back and forth. It’s like, man, if somebody is out there, some company is out there utilizing these people’s money and time just to be back and forth. So I started thinking, how can I get into this? But I don’t want to be on South Beach with that crowd because those guys are just they’re bad. They they wreck your car, no down payments. You just sign and drive like you’re saying, and then they do whatever they want, disrespecting the cars.

So it wasn’t until, I think August I was about to go to China and my brother sent me a D.M. of mph club. And I looked at em like, who is this? What are these guys? And he said, Man, I think you should try it. And you have all these cars in the driveways. Honestly, I have them in the driveway and I would just drive my truck and I started thinking, let me find a way to utilize some type of business platform other than the business that I have to make money for myself on the side. And I was reluctant for a little bit. And then it was I don’t know what clicked in my head. It was just let me talk to these guys, see where it goes, talk to you and Alex and Stoss came. And right when I started talking to them, I knew how professional you guys were. And that’s when I feel comfortable saying, let me just try this the first one, see how it goes. And I was blown away just from the professionalism. You guys letting me know, hey, right now, this time, this is a mileage. These are not necessarily the people because I don’t care about the people. But you’ve been very professional. Whatever. You’re not out there joyriding all the time. You’re not trying to, you know, pick up chicks or go to dinners. I mean, that’s fine. You do that. But you guys tell me, hey, look, we’re going to do this and this. I have no problems with that. So for me to see that. I was blown away, and I tell you, every time I come to your office, I’m just like, man, this is how it’s supposed to be done. I don’t think people , you can see it on the website, but when you see it in person, just from where you’re placed, what you’re doing is definitely a level up and people need to see it more. Man, I know you guys have a YouTube channel. I know you’re starting to roll that out a little bit more as far as the cars and and going through explaining to everybody what you have. And you have some pretty awesome…I’m not even going to lie. What is your favorite car that you have right now? You have to pick one.

Lee: This is one of the questions I am asked all the time. So I can’t it’s not fair. I can give you…

Nolan: The top three?

Lee: No, so this is the thing. It’s like me asking you, what’s your favorite child? You can’t.

Nolan: I got one, I only got one

Lee: Ok, well I have forty plus. Ok, so one my favorite car for this month. That’s what I turned it into.

Nolan: What’s your favorite car for this month.

Lee: All right. So we recently just added 812.

Nolan: Yes, I’ve seen it. Oh my God. That is amazing.

Lee: Before that I loved the Phantom. OK, Phantom’s Big Boy car.

Nolan: What month is that though. What month was that?

Lee: Ok, and that’s stayed for a couple of months. But the a12 man, that car is just it’s a classy Ferrari. It’s not your douche bag. Look at me. No, no this is a classy a12. Superfans is insane. Insane.

Nolan: I love that one because it’s along the family line of the 599, like the 599 and then it kind of went away. Then they have f12, you know f2l tdf and then you had a12.

liram sustiel at conversations with carroll podcast interview

Lee: Yeah.

Nolan: They had a couple of one offs, but ultimately that’s where all the front end . That’s what I asked you cuz It’s like, man, do you want another. It was like now we got one. I’m like, oh OK. And they had the Bugatti.

Lee: That was oh that was insane. So yeah we build a company, we bought the cars and then a couple of years after running it we realized, OK, we need to tweak this a little bit. There’s something here because people were coming up to us say, hey, I want to give you my car to put in the program like no, we buy our cars. Yeah. So we didn’t want to we didn’t know how that works. After researching and looking into it and this is definitely doable if you meet the qualifications and we both agree on terms. Yeah, we can definitely make this happen. So we ruled out the membership program.

So what we did is people like yourself who have vehicles, you know, we give you the opportunity of putting your car in our program and we rent it out and we make money together, taking on the cars. But these are very unique cars and unique relationships that we build. We don’t really do it with everybody. It’s not as you go by competition. Yeah. You got your way into this is not a simple thing, but that that shifted a whole company big time. Instead of being heavy capital into the business, I was actually able to relieve some of the stress off of my credit, my name and also the amount of inventory we could get. Now, we literally doubled within one year because of inventory, because I was capped at one point, I just kept ongoing. You know, my name holds so much weight. But eventually, if I had your name or his name or his name, it just grows and grows. So our inventory grew and that was phenomenal. It changed our business. And we released this about a year and a half ago and interest groups started a year and a half ago. I thought, oh, you have been with us about a year, right?

Nolan: Yeah. I didn’t know was when that’s when it had started.

Lee: Yeah. You’re one of the first people I’ll never forget it as I was planning on going to Greece and my girlfriend, you were going to China and I wanted to meet with you, but you were leaving and I was leaving. So we’ll have to meet somehow. I’m coordinating ng this whole thing with you and then Stoss and Alex is going to meet up with you. And I’m in Greece doing this…

Nolan: While you remember that.

Lee: Yeah, that’s right. I’m at the gym with my girlfriend working out and we talk to you.

Nolan: And when I hang up on my baby and the whole story, what happened? That’s awesome. I am so excited cause I wanted that phantom.

Nolan:  I had no idea I was the first one. I was like.

Lee: No, not the first one. You were the first couple.

Nolan: Yeah, OK.

Lee: We had a couple of people in the car with the program and then you got the fan I want your fan of when you posted one picture on Instagram.

Nolan: I saw. Yeah. Yeah. So I want pictures.

Lee: I want that car. Yeah. Not because it’s one of one of my favorite cars because it is, it’s a beautiful car, it’s McLaren but it’s also a very popular car. And to be told I never told you this yet, but that car got me in front of amazing people. Man. I met the owner of WhatsApp because of that car. I met the owners of ridiculous companies all over the world, amazing celebrities, Floyd Mayweather

Nolan: Oh, yeah.

Lee: These are people that I was able to connect to because of that specific car. No one has that car in there. Nobody. So it was able to put me in front of amazing people. And I had a great relationship with them and helped me expand the company with other things that we’re working on. Oh, well, I’ve written that in a minute, but.

Nolan: So, yeah, I didn’t even know that I’m shook. I’m glad I was able to help with that. Yeah. I also saw two and I want to bring that up during Super Bowl. Describe the rap on the phantom. I think you were doing it for Shaquille. Tribute for Kobe to Shaquille during his Funhouse House event. Explain that. Because I remember you told me I think I asked you for the car. You’re like hey, somebody wanted the car which you didn’t tell me who and they wanted to get it wrapped, but then you showed me and I was like, oh, OK, this is fine.

Lee: I knew by then you already trusted our judge. But you do your thing and I love it.

Nolan: No, I never every time I ask if my car is available, when you guys say no, I never like doing it, I’ll just take my shirt and go somewhere. I don’t, I don’t mind it because I, I’d much rather see the business grow. And I’ve seen what you guys done because I’ve been around you. You haven’t hit anything for me. You haven’t misplaced anything. You haven’t crashed my car. You haven’t done those things. You do it right. And you’re very selective.

Lee: And if God forbid bout those happens Then we take care of it.

Nolan: I got total coverage too,

Lee:
 Insurance.

liram sustiel and nolan carroll at conversations with carroll podcast

Nolan: But I know you guys are very selective on who gets the car. You’re not just trying to rent it out to everyone. So that trust was built over time. So any time something happens or I can’t get a car, that’s fine. I’d much rather your business do well because it would just sit here if it wasn’t. So definitely for that just I mean, like I said, the trust is there. So I never I never questioned that.

Lee: The month of February was a big blur to me. It was. So sometimes we get like a big thing that happens in a week. We get too excited. We talk about it for the whole week, bro. I couldn’t have a moment of excitement for more or less more than ten minutes and February. I mean, Shaquille O’Neal cool an hour later. Oh, I mean, for me with a cool an hour later. Oh we just we were sold out an hour later. Oh, you got three more cars in the program an hour later, Larry. But we have just amazing things going on. And then we got punched in the face by the corona virus. You know, it’s funny, but we got this man February’s phenomenal week Super Bowl in Miami. So we were sold out, but literally to every single client that we were sold out to was a famous person or celebrity or an athlete. We had a future. We had. The list goes on. Shaquille O’Neal was really cool. That was an honor. I’m a huge fan of Shaq, so we all are. He’s a great human being. He’s an amazing person. Shook his hand like this is crazy.

So his manager reached out to us and they wanted something was like impossible. They wanted the car. They wanted to rap it. Unfortunate because of what happened to Kobe Bryant. They wanted to do some sort of tribute for Kobe where he has Shaq’s funhouse.. And how can I make something fun and also respectful because it’s so fresh. It just happened. You know, I got together with metro raps and they’re phenomenal. They designed the whole thing. I got to give credit to that because they really pulled it off and I was blown away, by the way they design. The problem is that they called me on Thursday and they want the car on Friday. Come on, guys. First of all, the is out with a client. Yeah, that’s the first problem. Second problem is to wrap something takes about three days not to respectfully do it. Right. It takes about three days and. I’m a huge fan of Shaq, so I’m like, I got to make this happen. You reach out to the client who had the kind of time and I threw out an offer to him that he couldn’t refuse or switching cars with him. So he’s like, I’m here with my wife and my two kids, and you’re about to offer me a sports car with two seats. From him, I made it happen, I mean, I grabbed the car, I personally went to go pick up the car from the climb because I wanted to make sure that he’s okay with it. I know he’s disappointed. It’s a two-car, two-seater. But I made it happen when he was happy.

Nolan: Happy for a good cause.

Lee: It was it was. and at the end I sent him pictures and videos and the like. That’s awesome. Cool for you. So I hooked him up with the future rental, which next time, because a town he will get hooked up again. But I took the car and went straight to Metro reps, sat down with the designer, tweaked the whole design back and forth for hours, sat down with the owner and asked for a favor that he’s never done before. Keep the shop open for twenty-four hours until this car is done. I need this car back in my position at 9 am to go deliver it to Shaquille O’Neal. Bro, We were really so short on time that we made it happen when I was, umm… whenI went to go back to Metro wraps to pick up the Phantom, I was really like they were finishing touches on the car. When I got to go, I got to go. And I’m pushing the last couple of bubbles out of the paint. Just do it. Let’s go. Let’s go. Jump in. The car drove straight to the production, waited for three minutes. Shaq pulls up and so we wait in the side. Now, I know the front entrance is on the other side and we’re supposed to meet him there. All the cameras and everything is there. But like, I wanted to meet him in the front and just talk to him first and then put the car there so he can make his appearance. He comes in and he looks at the car and you go, wow! He looks around and walks on the whole car. Nice job. Who did this? Looks to me like you’re doing a good job.

Nolan: I always do it. When I saw those pictures, I was how long it takes you to do it? One day I was like, yeah, I got guys that if you try to do one today, they say, no, that’s impossible.

Lee: I gotta get a big shout out to my metro raps for making that happen, man.

Nolan: The whole thing looks nice. I wouldn’t even normally if somebody saw their car, I was like, what? What the fuck is this? I look like I got Kobe on my car. I’m not driven. This is cool. Like, this is dope. You know, it was I mean, like you said, it just happened. So nobody really knew how to react and what to do and how to.

Lee:  And it came classy, wasn’t cheesy?

Nolan: Not at all, no. The whole thing was nice. I know. I wish I could have seen it in person.

Lee: Also. Yeah. So the second that was done, we had to drive the car to the office, unwrap it and go deliver it to another client. Yeah, it was a busy week man, as the said, but for those, for the three or four days a super weekend honestly I was working 24/7I barely slept maybe three, four hours and I just, just to get to sleep in and go back to work. I was slammed with that.

Nolan: That propelled you guys for and I want to get into that with COVID because I remember when I came to the office in March and we were talking about it and we were kind of discussing, well me and Stoff we’re talking about he brought something up that just triggered in my mind. He said whoever can make it out of this is going to be forever strong down the road like it’s a renaissance is going on and only the strong are going to survive. And when he said it, I was with I was with Anthony and Andrew and I looked at him. I was like, man, that’s right. There is a motivation that I wanted to hear because that propelled me to basically make all this. But at the same time, I saw you guys still doing your thing. So how were you able to shift your mindset knowing that stuff’s getting canceled left or right? Because I could hear it in your voices. You just like shit. We don’t know how to stop this. Like one thing. It was what the concerts that were going on rolling loud.

Lee: And then we had Gumball 3000.

Nolan: I remember that. Yeah, I remember that.

nolan carroll interviewing liram sustiel from mph club exotic car rental

Lee: And it was a huge deal for us. They postponed to next year, unfortunately,

Nolan: But you still have it. All right.

Lee: Yes. They move into next year.

Nolan: You’re good. Yeah. So what about F1 races too? Because I know you guys.

Lee: They also got postponed to as well.

Nolan: So as long as it’s still there, you’re still there

Lee: It’s happening next year. Yeah. But it could happen this year and next year, whatever it is.

Nolan: But how were you able to look at the whole situation, analyze it, prepare for it and then say this is what we’re going to do. It’s still going to be it wasn’t business as usual, but you guys still made it work. So how were you able to overcome that stuff?

Lee: said it perfectly, man. Whoever comes out of this becomes stronger. And that’s exactly what happened. Because when COVID first happened, to be honest, I was a little nervous. I like I don’t know what’s going on. We’re heading into our market territories. Nobody knew what the hell is going on. And I called every single manager. I spoke to everybody. I told them, listen, guys, is a unique situation. If you want to can pick up your vehicles, hold onto it, will communicate as we go along. We don’t really have a game plan for these six months, but we have a game for a week. Yeah, I’m not going more than a week, one week at a time. Yeah. And our business did drop by like 80 percent, 90 percent for the two months of awkwardness that we were all home. Technically, we were still working cars here and there, but not the volume that we used to have. And all the employees were dealing with it, helping us out with whatever we can.

So the majority of the fleet, probably 60 percent of the fleet, went back to the owners until further notice. And then once we opened back up, we went back into the swing of things like nothing ever happened. That’s Florida for you, unfortunately. It wasn’t supposed to, but it happened. I can’t complain about that was a good thing for us. I called all the owners to bring you cars back, we’re back in business like nothing ever happened. OK, so that was funny. We took a forty five sixty day break. Yeah, pretty much. And and then slowly, slowly crawling out of this right now as we speak. But I see the light at the end tunnel. I see us going back to the way we used to run operations. And it is what it is, you know, it’s coronavirus, really. It’s not it’s not our fault, unfortunately. But ironically enough, a couple of competitors in the industry. Unfortunately, we went out of business because of this, you know, and everybody financially set for this. It is a big girl which kind of benefited us. I hate to say it was like a blessing in disguise, because couple of competitors went out of business , I end up taking all the inventory and put it in my inventory. So now they are my partners.

Nolan: So how many cars you have now? You have 40?

Lee: Yeah, we’re OK. So when we had thirty-nine cars right before COVID and we went out almost like 11 cars.

Nolan: Really?

Lee: Yeah. Because we sent all the cars back. Two months later COVID ended, then we bought all the cars, now we are creeping up to almost 40.

Nolan: Ok, because I remember you guys had a couple of mine. I took mine for like two weeks and I felt uncomfortable. I was like, oh, let me bring it back. But I mean, that’s I didn’t know. That’s cool. But it shows how you guys are thinking, how you’re progressing. You’re not just worried about the now moment. Like you said, you planned your weeks out and then came this plan a month out. Now that we understand what’s going on

Lee: We went to a skeleton crew. We reduce overhead immediately and just stay on top of everything and make sure. And I want to make sure everyone’s safe. First of all, what’s really weird is I had to, like, restructure our whole car wash department now. Yeah, that was a whole new game. Our car wash is about twenty-five dollars a car like eighty-five dollars a car because we have the steam clean Every car with the detail, every car, the handles, the steering wheel. It’s a lot more different things now. So it is what it is. We have to implement them and we are.

Nolan: That’s cool man. So what is next for MPH? What is your vision and what do you see this doing now that you guys are somewhat you’re the staple in the south. I think you are because you’re in by the Fontainebleau . You get the Fontainebleau aviation, you’re at all the most luxurious hotels like people don’t realize kind of the stronghold, the grid that you have in South Florida. So what is your vision for what’s next for you and yourself?

Lee: Yeah, I have a couple of personal goals for mph I’d like to umm… so due to COVID we went back to the drawing board. I was home and just like I said, there was not too much to do, so I researched what else can we do what’s the other source of income we can do. This is a time for me to reinvest myself into the company structure and a couple of things. Internally we had a couple of things that were old school, you know; and this is a time where I was able to for example, one of them was our website. A website there is a range of about seven, eight years of the business. But, during COVID I was full time working on my website.

Nolan: Yeah.

Lee: So we recently went live with a new website, so…

Nolan: I know it looks very good.

Lee: Thanks.

Nolan: I, I like it.

Lee: So we recently went live and that was the big shift because it was is not that simple to just transfer our old website to a new one. It was a big migration, I have five people in my team working on this full time for almost six months.

Nolan: Wow.

Lee: So you can imagine how much our cost is, that’s not cheap.

Nolan: Yeah.

Lee: So um that being said, that’s what I did for the downtime. Just restructure everything within the business and negotiate a lot of anything that I can, merchant services, leases, everything I can, I restructure everything and save money. Then, after that, I put together a game plan for the next five years.

Nolan: What’s what’s the game plan?

Lee: Right now we have about eight locations in Florida between Orlando, South Florida, Miami. My goal is to open up a couple more locations in other states because we’re not only in Florida.

Nolan: Yeah.

Lee: the furthest one is one Orlando, which we do very well there. I’m looking to open a one in Atlanta, Los Angeles, Phoenix, for example. I have a couple of potential help that I can get there. So those are next big goal for 2021. My goal is to open at least four or five more locations across America and there is a lot more to it; I also went mostly digital. So we have our YouTube channel now which is monetized and we’re able to grow another arm of revenue from that because of the cool content we produce, informational information. So yeah, we do a lot of cool content on social media, the website, restructuring everything and then open up more locations. That’s the main goal for the next couple of years.

Nolan: I love it, man. That’s the goal is expansion franchise. I know you. That was an idea. But I didn’t I didn’t harp on it too much. I didn’t know. But to see it I think is possible just because of how you guys do things and you’re not trying to just spread yourself there, your are calculated with what you’re doing. You explained that you want to go to Orlando, Atlanta, you kind of want to drift over. So I’m impressed, man. I appreciate that. If other people aren’t and they want to be haters and shoot, they got to deal with me because I’m not a hater. I honestly appreciate everything that you not only do for me, but what you guys are doing for the company, what you’re doing for other people that are involved in the club, too. This isn’t just a rental car company. This is more of a membership. Like you said, this is a club where you take care of people and you want to make sure you’re doing successfully with everybody that’s included and, you know. I appreciate you coming on here on the show, talking with me and catching up a little bit man into those other guys, Alex and Stoss and everybody else at mph. Tell them I say hello tell them enjoy the weekend man and I appreciate them as well. So, thank you for coming on man.

Lee: Definitely, of course, man.

HUSTLE INSPIRES HUSTLE PODCAST WITH ALEX QUIN

FINDING THE RIGHT BUSINESS MENTORS PART 2

Welcome back to the hustle inspires hustle podcast series with lee sustiel, co-founder of mph club. This is part two if you haven’t heard the first episode make sure to start there and then come back to this one.

Alex: So okay so we’re talking about mph club and a lot of people might say all right well he has a bunch of cars like he has he’s set like obviously people are going to pay attention to him or come see him or whatever but it wasn’t always mph club. This is not your first business. Why don’t you talk to me about a little bit of your journey like being a young guy starting your business, having a vision and then ultimately ending up with this company that everyone knows.

Lee: Yeah so and it started with this kid named Alan, okay Alan I was in third grade and he taps my shoulder and we’re in the classroom and he tells me to show that I turn around like, what’s up man? He goes yo you want to buy this lollipop. I’m like, no i’m good. He goes “come on man buy a lollipop man”, all right, how much is it? “It’s 50 cents” I’m like why? It’s 25 cents in the store. He looks and he goes “I  got to make a profit bro!” And it just sparked the light bulb in my head.

Alex: Allen, yeah thank you Allan.

Lee: I sparked a light bulb and I said ah that’s how you do it, okay. Next day I came to school with like three dollars and I went to the store across the street picked up as much candy as I can with two dollars. Put in my book bag by first period I ended up selling everything and doubled my money. My three dollars turned to six dollars and as a kid in third or fourth grade at the time that I was that was a lot of money.

Lee:  Oh yeah, so imagine me doing that almost every day, that worked out a while. I was able to save enough money to buy a Dj set.

Alex: Okay.

Lee: And that’s where that nickname DJ lee came from.

Alex: Okay.

Lee: But I used to DJ and this went into middle school a little bit of high school. I used to DJ and I made some money djing. My first DJ set was like about $800. I saved up 800 dollars that took me a while, almost a year to save up 800. I finally did that and uh the 800 I did one gig and I got literally 400 bucks to DJ. So I was blown away. I’m like all right, that’s pretty cool, so I did my cousin’s mom’s birthday party, and my sisters, I did random stuff. I did weddings, bar mitzvahs, whatever I came across and I started making a little money here and there. I ended up buying a car, technically that was my first big transaction, and from there I worked for a moving company over the summer. I was still DJing on the weekends but I worked for a moving company. My father had a moving company at the time so I worked for his company and I learned the industry. literally over the summer I learned the whole industry and I didn’t just go there really early every single day like at six o’clock in the morning to 10 o’clock at night. I had nothing going on that was my life. I just wanted to learn the industry and my dad’s employees told me to slow down. I’m making them look bad. Yeah i didn’t understand at the time I actually did slow down because that’s what they were telling me. They were older, I was younger, I thought that’s what I needed to do. But I realized okay maybe I am doing a better job that’s why they’re telling me. Eventually I learned the whole industry literally after three months of learning the industry coincidentally the next year my dad retired. So after his retirement I didn’t know nothing else to do. I only knew moving yeah so that was when I was in 10th grade at the time when this happened. 10th grade summer school, 10th grade finished.

I went into summer and I decided to open up my own company. So I started a moving company over the weekend. Bought a domain, the company started a corporation, and luckily I knew these types of things because of my father who pointed me in the right direction. Now when I opened the movie company, school started the next month and I kind of didn’t want to go back to school. Luckily my parents were very strict and they did not let me drop out. I was going to drop out of high school honestly but they wouldn’t let that happen. Once I learned the whole industry and opened the company I was still working but going to school at the same time. I was almost skipping every single day to be honest. So I was barely going to school but I made my attendance, I barely graduated but I graduated. I got my diploma. But at the end I was working and my work ethics were there.

I was waking up really early, I was not going on partying my friends were going out partying. I did not care about flashy clothes or anything in nature to to show off with, I was hustling. I was trying to build a name trying to build an establishment. I wanted to have an income so I could move out, so I could have my own apartment, so I can own my own house. And my work ethics were just unparalleled. I didn’t see my friends acting as well, my friends were calling me yeah we’re going out we’re partying we’re drinking, it was tempting but I had to wake up at six o’clock in the morning I had responsibilities, I had a couple of employees, I had to put I have to make sure they’re getting paid every week, I have to make sure they’re putting food on their table with their family. So I had responsibilities and I really enjoyed it because I bonded with every single employer that I had at the time and I’m talking about this is 10th grade now going to 11th grade. In 11th grade I had a um 3000 square foot warehouse, two trucks and about 15 employees. I was barely going to school. I was working at the moving company and that was what I wanted to do. I was going to go to the office at 6 o’clock in the morning, open up the office, let the employees go to work and then go to school to get my attendance. Leave the second period and go to my office to continue working. That’s what I really wanted to do and I had the movie company for about five to six years or so, I ended up selling the company.

I took a little break because it did put a lot of pressure on  my health and my time and after I sold the company I opened up a moving directory. I ran that for a couple years because again I only knew about moving so I opened it directly online where I can work in my underwear from home. So I built a directory I started learning how to optimize a website how to build websites I became very passionate about it and became like a little geek I wanted to build a website and start optimizing it and start generating leads for the moving industry because that’s all I knew at the time and it worked very well I did it for a couple years and I ended up selling that moving directory as well after I sold that moving directory I took a little bit of a break. With that break my dad needed help with his website for his business. so he came out of retirement, he teamed up with his own brother to open up a wood flooring company.

Alex:  I remember that, that’s right.

Lee: Yes, so the wood flooring company was pretty big, it was pretty fun because um we met a lot of cool people. You know like that’s what I like to do. I like to meet people I like to network. So um he turned to me and said hey I need you to build me a website I’m like alright no problem give me 30 days. So I built him a website a couple months later. He calls me complaining the phone is ringing off the hook what the hell did you do? I’m ranked number one everywhere, I’m getting leads every single day, what the hell did you do, this is amazing. That’s his complaint, so I’m like well good, let me see how else I can help you. So I end up getting out of my retirement because, I was working from home in my underwear so I came out of retirement, I went to my dad’s office and we dissected the whole business and put a whole game plan together to present to him to open up five locations and to expand the fleet and build the business. Because he was just it was him and his brother a small one location and they were just selling the actual flooring. I wanted to actually have installation, I wanted to install, I wanted to have um you know availability to install anywhere in the tri-county area. I wanted to grow that business and I did that for a couple years luckily we did that and we ended up selling business and my dad actually did finally retire okay I said you’re done so in the end of me finishing up with the wolf floating company with my father that’s where I um wanted to get into my real passion and that’s the exotic cars. I met Brett David at an early age, Brett David is the owner of Prestige Imports and Lamborghini Miami. He is killing it to be the best lamborghini dealership in america if not the world. He has a phenomenal used dealership Prestige Imports where I definitely highly recommend if you have a passion for exotic cars you gotta go check it out. There’s a couple paganis, a couple of bugattis, and a couple koenigseggs, any car you could think of on a regular Tuesday just sitting there. So his inventory is insane. I met him at a really young age, my younger sister at the time went to school with Brett and that’s how I met him. There was a show what, is it called when you do a show, like my sister was singing and he did breakdancing.

Alex: Like b-boy, like you got served?

Lee: They’re right in front of the whole school where they’re presenting their talents.

Alex: Okay, talent show.

Lee: Yeah a talent show. That was exactly it. The talent show. My sister was singing all cute, no problem. Brett did a little break dancing but the funny part about Brett at the time, he had a cast from his wrist up to his shoulder. He had a broken arm, he was like 11 years old at the time, breakdancing with a broken arm and that’s how I met him because I was big into breakdancing at the time. It’s pretty cool we just clicked right there on the spot but the coolest part was his dad picked up in a purple diablo and I thought that was a spaceship. I was blown away like what the hell is that? That’s where I had a passion for cars before but that was my first time actually seeing a diablo with my own eyes. I was blown away and his dad picked him up and left.

A week later I ran into him again and then we exchanged contact and we became good friends after that and next thing you know I’m just hanging out with Brett and all these amazing crazy cars that his dad drives. Brett was never allowed to touch the cars he was never allowed to touch them um up until a certain age obviously. But uh that’s where I really got my passion from and over time I never let go of that passion. I wanted to somehow get into that industry. I wanted to not be in competition with Brett but somehow compliment brett. Yeah you know he sells cars so I didn’t know how I could somehow get involved with that without being in competition because that’s my boy. I’m not going to be in competition, that’s not how it is so. I went back to my genes where I’m a little geek inside and I did some research on my laptop and for months I’ve been researching how to get into this and I finally found that there is a demand for exotic car rentals.

Lee: I didn’t even think it was a thing at the time like that’s insane how can you rent a half a million dollar car that doesn’t sound normal it’s not not normal nobody does that. There wasn’t too many companies at the time doing it and um I said oh it I’m going to build a directory and let’s see what happens after a couple of months of building directly with a fake facade pictures and videos just random and people started coming in with leads and phone calls and I’m like alright this is actually happening. People are actually really interested in this so I at the time I got together with my partner at the time I  pitched in the idea of hey what is this what do you think we should do with this and we came up with the idea of opening up a car rental company which is only dedicated to high and exotic cars and um between me and him brainstorm back to fourth we came up with the name mph club we were bouncing some other real names we’re thinking of garage toys and some other stupid names thank god we only picked mph club and  we grew some balls and went to brent and bought our first lamborghini.

Alex: Okay is that the one we painted on that’s the one

Lee: That was the Giardo the first but we started the right before that with a Lexus gs f-type and he added a C Class 63 yeah those are cool cars but yeah but we needed an exotic so we went to Brett finally bought our first Lamborghini. We rented a couple times smooth transactions and we did well and uh up to this day believe it or not I still service the first client Joshua I’ll never forget him nice recently a couple months ago he just remembered from us that’s amazing so 10 years that right there taught me something big every time I meet somebody make a connection save their number communicate with them wish them happy birthday I wish I had new years you connect them because at the end day I will do business with somebody I’m familiar with more than I would do some business that I’m not familiar with yeah so with joshua he actually rents from us every once in a while two or three times a year and he was our first client rented out I rented the Giardo a couple times and eventually one client took the car for a month and that was the biggest transaction for us.

That was huge and with that money that we got for that 30-day rental we actually took it and doubled down and said let’s go buy another car. So we bought Ferrari we bought a 458 Italia and that was our technically fourth car at the time and next thing you know man every other month or so we were getting another car and another car and a car another car 10 years later we got over 40 cars in our fleet and um over time we did evolve to another concept of the business and I’ll get to that in a minute but the the point of this story is like you mentioned earlier you met a couple of amazing people the people that put you in front of right so same thing with me I always land in front of people or someone they get brought into my attention and I like to make a connection make a relationship because you never know whatever they can bring to my table in the future or even now yeah so that’s a really good lesson that I learned

Alex: Bro first of all that’s great that you share that with me because I didn’t know a lot of those things about you and I spent a lot of time with you. Second of all my love for cars has a connection with Brett I grew up in bay harbor uh my mom and we always went to costco across the street yeah every time my mom drove to Costco I would be glued to the window looking at Prestige Imports like glued and looking at it and then what I would do is when I would get to Costco or Walgreens or Target when we would go I would buy Dupont Registry and I would just like circle the cars or cut out the cars that I loved. And then that was just the thing of me being a kid I did the same thing. I sold candy in school, I did all these things I didn’t have a crazy ass business in high school, you were crazy you’re an alien from another planet. But to get to the point, my love for cars started with Prestige Imports and it’s funny because it’s with you, you knew Brett’s dad.

Fast forward a few years later you and me are doing an event and Brett and Dupont Registry are supporting the event which is the event that we did in the parking garage right now at around that time about a year before we started working together I was working at pizza hut right and I was the manager at the Pizza Hut in Hollywood and I was doing my thing. I was there for a little bit and I had this guy Tony. Tony was about 70 years old when the driver retired, got bored at home and said I’m going to deliver pizzas. He didn’t need the money but I’m going to deliver pizzas. So whatever, one time I’m with Tony and he’s like oh what do you do and, I’m like oh I’m starting this company you know called Vintage Works and we’re going to do all these car events and this car meets and I’m really trying to get this guy Brett David to support my event and blah blah blah and I didn’t know brett back then you know we’re cool now and I met Brett through you and we’ve known each other for a minute but I didn’t know him and I was trying to find a way to get his attention. And he’s “like wait a second did you just say brett david?” and I was like yeah. “I knew his grandfather”. I’m in Pizza Hut and this is the driver that’s delivering pizzas and I’m trying, like you got me oh this guy’s full of because he was always saying things you know what I’m saying and I’m like I really listened to him but I was like what are the real odds that he worked with brett’s dad? The next day he shows up to work and he shows me a business card and he’s like look Brett’s grandfather designed this.

Lee: Grandfather, or father?

Alex: Was it grandfather, or father?

Lee: So Brett’s dad is Irv.

Alex: I don’t think it was Irv, bro. I think it was his grandpa, bro. This guy knew his grandpa. It wasn’t Irv. So he gives it he’s like me and Brett’s that designed this business card and he’s like I still have a box of them. No way and he’s showing me this and I’m like get out. I’m like can I have it he’s like yeah you could have it so what do I get in my hoopty no air conditioning in my paint peeling off and I drive my ugly ass car to prestige imports and I literally walk right in and I’m like, yo is Brett here? And Brett’s always been like the coolest guy, I’ve literally seen Brett talk to homeless people in there. He’s super nice to everyone. So I’m like, bro, listen I know this sounds crazy but this guy told me that he knew your grandpa and they designed this logo together in this business card or whatever he’s like oh for real I’m like dude I brought it so I give it to Brett and I was like he was like blown away and I was blown away because I’m trying to get connected with him and I have a piece of his of his history.

From a guy in Pizza Hut, that’s one of my employees and I work at Pizza Hut he’s like whatever from that day we connected and then a year and a half later two years later I find out that you and him are friends so then we start working together and he sees me so all of these things like it’s crazy because you never really know where you’re going to end up and a lot of people get really stressed out about things not panning out for them exactly how they’re going to be, but bro, you you did a moving company, you did a flooring company, and then like you hit the jackpot with this. You may have made money on the other ones but this is the jackpot because this is what you’re really passionate about, and you were able to make a business out of it but not only that you were able to do it without stepping on your boy’s toes, right? And I think that’s beautiful and that’s the purpose that I wanted to do this podcast because this podcast is all about nurturing your relationships. Who are you surrounding yourself with, how are you bringing them value, how are they bringing you value, are you expecting things immediately, are you really helping people out.

When I first got here like you said I was all over the place but you never limited me, right? Any crazy idea I had let’s do it, maybe you would refine it and polish it a little bit and be like let’s do it! And I think that you need to go look for people like that because it doesn’t need to be lonely and I talk about it a lot here how entrepreneurship can be lonely because sometimes like there’s things you can’t tell other people or or staff or or just things that you’re waiting on like big secrets of the company or certain accomplishments or certain setbacks and when you have a like a group of people who support you whether you’re business partners or not or people you could just rely on for advice I think that’s something that you need to drop your ego sometimes and stop being so prideful and allow people to help you correct because you helped me a lot but then again I helped you and I was just a little. Look at all the amazing things that that you’ve been able to do and look at all the amazing things I’ve been able to do, so guys if you’re listening to this right now and you could take one big takeaway is wake up tomorrow and go do right by people go find something that you love and something that you’re passionate about and just get your feet wet because I wasn’t always meant to be a Pizza Hut manager. Or maybe marketing director somewhere, but if I wouldn’t have been marketing director at mph club I wouldn’t have been maybe given the opportunity to be marketing director at hgreg.com. I was the national marketing director. if I wasn’t able to be national marketing director there I wouldn’t have been able to be the chief marketing officer of metro group, right? If I wouldn’t have been able to be the chief marketing officer of metro group I wouldn’t be a global consultant for doc.com, and you’ve met the guys from doc.com, I brought them here. So it’s all a chain of events and a chain reaction that you may not realize it because you’re so in your head but there’s something truly going on that as long as you follow a path that makes you happy and a path that you’re doing something that you love and you’re doing right by people eventually things are going to line up for you because there’s no such thing as luck.

Luck is only when hard work meets opportunity and if you’re putting in a lot of hard work it only takes one person to walk through that door to change your life. And that’s what it really was when you showed up to my car to film that video. That’s when really things took off and all of these things were able to happen. So Lee, bro, I wanna thank you for jumping on the podcast, people are gonna have a lot to listen. This is probably gonna be a two-parter the last two partners are Grant Cardone, Chris Foss and a few other people that we have on the podcast which were pretty cool but I felt like this this episode deserved the two um deserve the two-parter because we’ve talked about a lot of cool things and i don’t see a lot of people being grateful to people that have helped them out in the past. Everybody always wants to you know pretend that they’re self-made or nobody ever helped me, and I had to do this on my own, and yes, maybe I am self-made and you know I’ve done a lot of things on my own but just like you Lee and Stac of course, We didn’t mention Stac. You started mph club with Stac and Stac is also one of my mentors. So much love to Stac, much love to you and the rest of the team for helping me be who I am today bro. You guys grabbed me at 18 years old and had no idea what I was doing. I’m about to turn 27 years old and I’ve been able to do a lot of amazing things man. That’s the age you were when I started working with you. You were 27 years old, and now I’m 27.

Lee: Wow bro.

Alex: You old bastard.

Lee: I’m talking to you. I’m visualizing the old office that we had over there at Orion jet center. It was a sick office. A cool experience we had.

Alex: You made me do some crazy bro.

Lee: We did some crazy, I still do some crazy today, I just told you the story about a tiger sitting on my nuts.

Alex: Yeah you were caking people with steve aoki and…

Lee: Yes, we’ve done that we’ve done, uh bro, I’ve seen it all man. The crazy story I’ve done with Vitaly…

Alex: Well Vitaly was up with Doc Antle, right?

Lee: Yes that’s how he got connected actually. Yes, so when I saw him do that I told him, bro you got to get connected with this guy, it was crazy and between him trying to connect us I think I dropped the ball somewhere then Robert picked it back up, because robert…

Alex: Good job Robert!

Lee: Yeah, Shout out to Robert, So he actually made the connection with the photographer there and when he brought it to my attention I was blown away like, hell yeah, we’re gonna go visit them for sure. I had nothing, I didn’t know that they were doing anything with Netflix, so we did this whole thing, yeah the whole thing happened and then we started dropping a couple cool pictures and videos and then a week later Netflix dropped the series. Oh my god every minute I was like, what!? That was insane, that was pretty cool.

Alex: So Lee, where can we find you on social media people find you I don’t obviously mph club look it up anywhere you’ll find it but personal?

Lee: Yeah so everybody calls me Lee it’s much easier to pronounce my first name is Liram my last name is Sustiel, but everybody calls me Lee. My socials are Liram Sustiel.

Alex: Okay cool, guys make sure to check that out, if you didn’t catch that check the show notes for a history of mph club. You’ll see a bunch of videos of me like at 19 and 20 years old doing crazy with Lee. remember relationships are extremely important, be grateful to the people who have been good to you, and surround yourself with people who uplift you because hustle inspires. See you guys on the next episode

HUSTLE INSPIRES HUSTLE PODCAST WITH ALEX QUIN

FINDING THE RIGHT BUSINESS MENTORS PART 1

This episode is part one of a two-part series with the co-founder of mph club Lee Sustiel.

Alex talks to Liram Sustiel, Co-Founder of mph club. Liram shares how he went from renting three cars to have one of the most popular exotic and luxury car rentals in the country.

Alex: What’s going on everyone this is Alex Quinn and you’re listening to the hustle inspires hustle podcast. In today’s episode we have Lee from mph club. What’s going on Lee?

Lee: Good man, how are you?

Alex: Lee, I, bro I’ve been wanting to have you on the podcast for a hot minute because you were you’re one of the key factors to the development of my marketing career, I think we met when I was 18 and I officially started working for you when I was 19 years old. I was a little shit and I was young and I knew what I was doing. I guess like I knew I wanted to do business but I never really had a direction and when i first started working here at mph I really had a lot of opportunities. So I really wanted to bring you on here bro, but, before we do… Why don’t you break down for everyone what mph club is and what you guys are doing right now.

Lee: Of course, first of all, appreciate you even coming here and being on the broadcast as well. Listen it’s an honor to be involved. A little bit about mph club, so, we started the company about almost 10 years ago now approaching our 10th year. We are a luxury exotic car rental company at the end of the day. Our inventory sustains only high and exotic cars and you can rent them on a daily rental weekly rental monthly rental or whatever the case may be. That being said we’re located in South Florida. We service all the South Florida area. You helped us to get to this point so we’ll touch on that a little more in sure…

Alex: Yeah man, so guys just some context, we’re sitting at the Opa-Locka executive airport in Miami where all the private planes land, where all the celebrities land and you guys had a big vision for the business 10 years ago when we first met. I remember how we met, it was funny because at the time i was doing car shows, I was doing car events and…

Lee:  What was the vintage video…Yes I remember, That event that we did was insane we got shut down…

Okay so we started, we had a vision when we first started and we didn’t really know where to go, what to do. So we wanted to get our name out there and you came up with the idea of putting a car event.

I’m like alright, I guess that makes sense you know a lot of people show up and we could talk about it. We were with a goal of I think 100 people, maybe like you know 50 cars like… yeah we can make that happen cool.  We went around a couple of different locations to look for a location where you brought up the attention of the marlin stadium when it was brand new. It just opened up recently, right? And you made it happen to get that location. We made the event happen, we started promoting. I think it was like literally two posts on Instagram and we had roughly about what three-four hundred cars that show up.

Alex: It was really crazy, yeah, so we were not you guys just so you could get a visual aspect we’re in a parking garage and we pretty much filled up like the whole top half of the parking garage with exotics, with you know some people had classics, and people had tuners, dupont registry was out there, Lamborghini Miami, uh there were vendors, and it was just a family environment it was a really good way for us to get the name out there. And I think that was one of the first times where i really was able to put something massive together with connections that I would have never been able to have before. Because at the time the company was really young but you guys knew a lot of people and you guys were already business owners, yeah you were you had already been running businesses and you already know what you were doing with mph club so it was very easy for me to come in and analyze who you had around you. What you had and able to create something around it and I’ve always been very grateful and I talk about you all the time with so many people. I travel the world speaking on different stages and I always talk about mph club because you guys gave me an opportunity. You guys made me marketing director at 19 years old. Nobody would have ever allowed me to do that but more than that it was a matter of trust because you guys have tens of millions of dollars in cars like how do you trust somebody to…

You get what I’m saying, but it was just we knew from the beginning that we all had a vision to really take the company somewhere and we were just on the same frequency so I want this to be the moment for you to know that I’m extremely grateful for everything you’ve done for me and I wouldn’t be able to be doing a lot of the things right now if it wasn’t for me being at mph club. All the time that I was here you’re making.

Lee: I appreciate that. Listen I saw the hunger in you, I saw the drive-in you, and you need to be pointing the right direction because you were going all over the place so I helped you make that happen. I love that man. I love you, you’re an amazing guy, yeah, great job, appreciate you.

Alex: I really appreciate that, I was talking to my parents about you today because they were like, man you guys did so many cool things together, like we did events we did photoshoots, we lined up cars, and from dead hangers…

Lee: We got fined left and right because of the event, we had the police department shut us down, we were limited to 50 cars we ended up with 350 cars, um yeah the fire department shut us down and that was fun. It was a cool experience. I’m not gonna lie.

Alex: So let me put you guys into a perspective. So the first time I was doing an event it was called it was the vintage works. It was my first company, I had a business partner at the time we really were really trying to get a lot of work done so we decided to do a promotional video and we reached out to a ton of car companies locally and you guys were one of them at that time. you guys I believe you had two cars?

Lee: Yeah we said we started with three cars.

Alex: You started with three cars right? So you came to the event and we shot the promotional video and then i remember at the event you told me, you were like, hey why don’t you swing by the office this week or one of these days and we’ll chat. I remember you guys were still in the jet in the first jet hanger. Orion Jet Center, that was a massive office. Yeah I remember walking in. I thought you guys were just moving in. I think there were like three or four deaths and the couches in the back.

Lee: 2800 square feet with literally two desks

Alex: That’s it, overlooking a bunch of airplanes like private jets and then we hit it off. You’re like hey man, like we’re trying to do this and trying to do that and that’s where I really started to learn from you and everybody in the company and everything that was going on. I want to talk to you about something very specific that stayed with me because after a while of working here I had many opportunities. I was doing marketing, I was doing anything that we could do to grow the business and one of those things was driving. You know doing driving and doing proms or driving to.

Lee: God yeah, chauffeur gigs.

Alex: Yes, driving certain people around and that was a great opportunity for me because a lot of these people are people that have been able to stay in my business network to this day. And I would have never been able to do that if you didn’t give me that opportunity and that’s something I want people to learn from because my listeners on this podcast a lot of times are people who are trying to start a business and are trying to get into bigger networks but really don’t know how to do it. And at the time I was the marketing director here but there were side gigs for me to make extra money and I did it. But if I would have never accepted that I would have never met a lot of people that I was able to meet. I wouldn’t have an advertising agency right now because the reason I started an advertising agency and why this podcast exists is because the advertising agency got popular. And people wanted to hear about it and that was inspiration from Jordan Zimmerman. And because of you I met Jordan Zimmerman and I was blown away by everything that he was doing. I mean I was driving him to close massive deals into his building and to his private jet and all these things and it really lit a fire under my ass. I’m like, I like marketing, I’ve been doing this, I’ve been doing all these things I want to make a name for myself in marketing. And just like Jordan there were many other people that I’ve been able to do amazing things with right now like we. We sat down like Michelle and I sat down like two weeks ago and we went back and we tied you and mph club to all the amazing things that have happened to me in the last 10 years.

Lee: That’s awesome.

Alex: And if it wasn’t for me working here I wouldn’t be a public speaker globally because I met Gil from  Luxury World Traveler through you. You introduced them to me and I met Anish with you. I met a bunch of great people with you, Billionaires Club, and I’ve been able to make great money with a lot of those guys, and had you never given me that opportunity I wouldn’t have been able to do it. Right, so, I’ve always told you it speaks a lot to people to trust people who maybe are younger than them and are not ready because when I got here I maybe wasn’t ready. I maybe didn’t have any idea what I was doing but you saw something in me. And maybe I didn’t have the skill but you hired culture and trained skills which is very important for people who are just starting a business. For people that already have a business, it’s very important to surround yourself with great people and you’ve always been about the collaboration you’ve always been about being creative with the company. How many followers does mph club have now on Instagram?

Lee: I think we reached like 300 and something thousand followers.

Alex: Right, verified too. Did you get verified?

Lee: Yeah we actually recently got verified that was pretty cool.

Alex: Youtube has been killing it you guys.

Lee: Yeah. Now we’ve been focusing a lot on YouTube lately

Alex: Yeah you guys have been interviewing celebrities, right?

Lee: Yeah it’s a new show that we started, Starlight Spotlight, we got Robert actually interviewing a lot of cool celebrities that land here and we service them and we ask them. You know sometimes they don’t want to be in front of the camera sometimes they actually are cool with it, like yeah listen we’re going to drive you anyways, is it cool if we just ask a couple of cool questions? And they’re like yeah, just let me know what the questions are and we make it happen.

Alex: Yeah you guys have some pretty crazy people like if you’re not watching right now you’ll see I’m sitting next to a Ferrari hood okay there’s a hood on the wall of a blue Ferrari. What Ferrari is that?

Lee: This is from a 458 spider now let me do a little background before you go into the story, if we had this hood from the first day we opened up i would have filled up probably three or four hoods of signatures from all the celebrities across the world but unfortunately we only took this hood in about a year ago so there’s uh maybe enough room for like five more signatures and it’s completely filled.

Alex: Yeah.

Lee: Just to name a few you could go see if you could read some of them.

Alex: Oh I’m seeing here for sure is that Romero Britto, Steve Aoki, um Ozuna is he on there, yep annual, yep uh Marshmallow?

Lee: Marshmallow, Dan Bilzerian, Floyd Mayweather,

Alex: Floyd Mayweather, TMT, right there yeah

Lee: 50-0, there’s a lot more but like I said if I had a couple of hoods earlier I couldn’t afford them in the beginning when we first started the company but eventually like a year ago we decided to get one because honestly like dude i’m not keeping nothing from all these amazing people I’m meeting and the hood just came out of a conversation I had at the time and it just popped up and we finally got one we start filling it up and now I’m actually in process of talking about a second hood

Alex: Nice!

Alex: Do you remember when we went to that airplane like scrap yard and we bought like a bunch of shit to make like furniture for the office

Lee: That was a waste of money, but yeah I remember that. There was a junkyard at the airport here in Opa Locka and it was pretty cool because we can make friends everywhere we go so we met the guy who runs the junkyard and we…our vision was like a wing but we realized how big of a…

Alex: for a conference table right?

Lee: Yeah, we want to make a conference table and we chopped off a small piece of a wing. It wasn’t even the whole wing and it was like I think 38 feet long. We had to get an 18 wheeler to move it. We chopped it off, we took the 18-wheeler we found a guy who can actually make this happen then long story short we realized we’re moving so it doesn’t it’s not going to fit in our new office. So we just let it go we let the guy have it never turned out but luckily I found aviation furniture on restoration hardware yes and they have some sick furniture so we have a bunch of furniture that looks like it but it’s not the actual wings that we wanted to build but that was a fun experience guys and a waste of money.

Alex: A lot of these things that I’m talking about I’m actually going to link them in the show notes like the videos and the pictures and the different things that we’re seeing so if you’re listening go to the show notes go to the go to the website go on our social media and you’ll be able to see everything that I’m talking about so you could get an idea. Another thing that’s sitting right in front of me is a big ass picture of lee driving a Bugatti which leads us to an interesting story because

Lee: Shout out to bankrupt he made that happen bankruptcy he also made that huge piece behind you as well yeah the globe the continents yeah.

Alex: Yeah he did a great job, and shout out to Mr debonair too, there’s a few grenades and a few rifles on the wall of art these are people that we’ve come across during our entrepreneurial journey who are creatives who have contributed different things to the mph club organization and it allows for the company to thrive and always be creative. So, we just talked about the hood we just talked about the Bugatti and the Bugatti is special to me because I remember, I think I mean it was probably like a year end of me being here i was probably like 20 years old and we were like you imagine like mph club having a Bugatti one day and we would be like oh imagine when we get an Aventador right

Lee: Oh my god.

Alex: Yeah and man like we’re here 10 years later and you guys have been moving Bugattis, Aventadors like everything like you got your hands on everything you made it happen and it’s crazy because there’s a lot of car rental businesses in the united states but not everybody has the reach that you guys have and the cars that you guys have and I think that’s why you guys attract a lot of the people that you attract to come shop here because it’s an affinity, right? You could get cars anywhere but you can’t get that experience that you get here just anywhere. You guys do amazing collabs. You guys did a collab with Jake Paul, was it?

Lee: Yeah.

Alex: That was pretty cool, like his whole team was wearing your logo your shirts.

Lee: Yeah we sponsored the whole fight that last fight he did and he’s got another fight right now actually very soon coming up

Alex: Yeah that was cool, I remember watching I was watching tiger king during the quarantine

Lee: Oh my god.

Alex: And doc, you guys did a video with Doc Antel yeah we went to his place and played with all the animals. What a phenomenal establishment he’s got over there, it’s insane. I’ve got a lifetime experience, to hang out with tigers and monkeys all over the place bro, okay so there’s one scene that I will never forget. I’m in the yellow Lamborghini Urus in the back of his house and he’s like I’m gonna bring the tiger out and want to take a picture with it.  I’m like alright cool, and he’s telling me it’s a baby tiger. I’m like you know that’s not a big deal, I have a little dog so I can. I’m just comparing the two. He pulls up with this 250-pound tiger, I’m like, that’s not a baby tiger bro. And the tiger opens the passenger door, I’m in the driver’s seat, the tiger jumps inside like a normal procedure and he walks right on top of me. He sticks his head out the window while he puts his paw, again he weighs 250 pounds, puts his paw right on my nuts. I’m screaming but at the same time when I made it when I flinched he stared right at me, we made eye contact, and I almost pee’d my pants a little bit. And immediately the trainer just grabs him and sticks his head out the window and we took a cool picture, and I gotta show this picture. It’s just insane. But that way there was just a life experience just have you ever had a tiger stare at you when he’s literally an inch away when he’s breathing you feel the hot air from his mouth on your face, it was insane.

Alex: That’s a great experience, we had a crazy experience. What was it, with lemurs with a little pump, we went, we went with Juan.

Lee: I remember seeing that!

Alex: We went with Juan and Lil pump and his manager and a bunch of people to Jungle Island and they brought out a bunch of lemurs and baby monkeys and animals are just great, animals are really cool, I love that you have Blu here. If you guys aren’t following Blu by the way it’s @mr.bludog on Instagram it’s lee’s dog, he’s famous, he gets off private jets he hangs out with Mayweather and whoever you may think of he became a little mascot for the company.

Lee: He became a mascot.

Alex: But guys outside of the celebrities and outside of the cars and outside of all that stuff that you may see online and you might find cool the purpose of the podcast is to talk about work ethic, the purpose of the podcast is to talk about great relationships and being able to build long-term relationships a lot of the time right now people want instant gratification and we’ve talked about that on the podcast before. I’ve known Lee for a greater part of probably 10 years and we’ve always found a way to help each other out. You’ve connected me to so many people I already lost track. I’ve done the same in exchange that I’ve already lost track I remember last year we were in Bali speaking at a conference Michelle and I and some other people from the team we went out there and i had a presentation up and people wanted to know what projects I’ve worked on or what companies I’ve worked with and I remember bringing up metro group Miami and mph club because I was Marketing director here and I was chief marketing officer at metro group Miami a few years after that and you guys were you and Bruno I love both of you guys, you guys are like family and it always makes me so happy to see the shit that you guys do together because you guys are both crazy.

Lee: They’re amazing designers.

Alex: Bruno is out here designing for the Miami Heat, Bruno’s had stuff in the White House Bruno hangs out with Dwayne like Lebron and Dwyane Wade and you’re on that same vibe. You guys designed some crazy-ass cars. You guys designed some cars for Steve Aoki, Marshmallow, and I forgot who else.

Lee: We’ve done so many, but Steve Aoki was the biggest one we’ve done a couple of wraps for his new albums that he dropped.

Alex: Or for ultra when he comes for ultra and stuff, I think it’s, I always talk about relationships right, in partnerships, because you felt like so, you have your cars, you have your clientele, you saw the potential in metro, metro’s able to wrap cars, you guys are able to advertise, Steve Aoki’s able to you know get his hype and advertise his album, like all of these partnerships are totally doable for people. You just have to find the opportunities right? Maybe you don’t have the car, maybe you’re not Steve Aoki, maybe you’re not this famous person but what if you’re the person that found a way to connect the dots, right? What if you were able to put out a proposal or connect two people or connect three people that then flourish into something beautiful and I think that’s one of been one of the key successes of mph club is being able to do that being able to give people the opportunities like before we started recording this you reminded me of a project we did with Juan where we wrapped the front of a Lamborghini Gallardo in like like clear coats

Lee: Yeah clear coat, 3M clear coat, and then he’s an amazing artist and he just went ham all over.

Alex: With sharpies yeah?

Lee: Yeah like a whole bunch of sharpie, and it was cool at the time but today I will never do that.

Alex: Yeah I mean at that time we were just trying to think outside of the box but I think you created a standard in the car industry, right? Because I remember when we first teamed up we teamed up with crm jewelers back in the day when crm jewelers was like three months into business now they are huge. And we were shooting like watches on trays, on steering wheels on.

Lee: We had a viral picture. We bought like six-seven watches. We put them on the steering wheel and took a picture and just like a regular picture just post on Instagram next you know that thing went viral.

Alex: That thing is still going around bro, I’m still getting tagged, right? On some of those pictures to this day. I know and I laugh about it with my friends and the team because to think that something that we did 10 years ago is still being impacted and it’s still relevant it just shows how ahead of our time we were and we created a trend, we created a trend that people like people on billionaires club and watch watching niche and lifestyle magazines and bro we had DJ Khaled like looking at our stuff.

Lee: Our picture was his profile picture for like a couple of months, DJ Khaled. Also, Tyrese. Yeah, remember that? Yeah, Puff Daddy had that too. Yeah, that was pretty funny.

Alex: Yeah no there were so many people I lost track of the magazine articles and I think it was funny because you know there’s a lot of exotic car rental businesses in Miami at the time and you guys swept everyone out. Like, it is what it is, you guys came and you redefined the business, you made it cool to rent a car, right?  you made it cool to rent a car and have an experience because the cars were always clean you guys always had a great experience there’s always cool content there is um there’s mascots around. It just didn’t have to be the usual business so if you have a business right now and it’s 2020 and you’re really trying to think of what to do don’t be so serious don’t be afraid to know really get funky and collaborate with artists or collaborate with the creator.

Lee: Funny you mentioned that, I actually have a good friend of mine who started a blinds company. You know, he put blinds on windows. He’s like I can’t make blinds look cool, I can’t make you know, I’m like you, you sell cars, you can make them cool on Instagram. Like no bro, you could do the same. I could give you some examples, there’s a crazy mansion out there that you can take some sick content with, with the blinds. You can make a lifestyle video of somebody waking up getting out of bed opening the blinds. You can get creative with these things. And he didn’t really think of those concepts so that’s what I try to bring to the table. It’s not just the cars that sell themselves, it’s bringing the lifestyle, It’s showing people this is what you could look like, this is what you could do, this is the fun part.

Alex: This is how you could feel.

Lee: It you know it doesn’t have to be necessarily something that you want to just show off with no there’s something that you could actually take for your birthday, a birthday weekend, spice it up a little bit. Yeah. Take, you know, take a fun car and that’s something you could tick off a bucket list
